Job Description

What a day looks like

As our Site QHSE & Food Safety Compliance Manager, you are the on‑site authority for OSHA, EHS, SQF, GMPs, sanitation, pest control, product quality, and regulatory reporting. Your morning might start with a plant walkthrough to verify machine guarding and housekeeping, followed by coaching a cross‑functional team from Operations, HR, Maintenance, and Corporate on new safety procedures. By mid‑day, you’re reviewing quality audit findings, validating SQF documentation, and confirming run‑order specifications for the next production run. In the afternoon, you could be closing out a root cause and corrective action (RCCA) from a recent near miss, updating SDS files and plant security protocols, and preparing for a customer or regulatory audit.

EHS, Safety & Compliance Leadership

  • Design, implement, and sustain site safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Lead investigations into incidents, injuries, illnesses, and near misses; drive corrective and preventive actions to completion.
  • Compile and maintain OSHA logs and other required regulatory reports.
  • Conduct routine health, safety, and environmental inspections and audits across the facility.
  • Administer Workers’ Compensation claims and partner with HR on return‑to‑work planning.
  • Chair the site Safety Committee and foster engagement at all levels.
  • Maintain SDS records and oversee plant security practices.
  • Coordinate and host regulatory inspections and third‑party audits.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Quality, Food Safety & SQF Ownership

  • Build, execute, and continuously improve quality management and food safety programs.
  • Serve as the SQF Practitioner; protect SQF system integrity and certification status.
  • Ensure teams adhere to plant rules and procedures that support customer service, including:
    • Following defined run‑order specifications for every product.
    • Meeting prerequisite programs consistent with the SQF Code for the Manufacture of Food Packaging and all food safety obligations.
    • Complying with all GMPs aligned to Food Safety Requirements.
  • Lead sanitation and pest control programs.
  • Plan and conduct internal quality audits; retain inspection and verification records.
  • Support customer audits and address quality inquiries promptly.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Training, Continuous Improvement & Reporting

  • Deliver safety, quality, and compliance training for all levels.
  • Track, analyze, and report key safety and quality metrics to drive accountability.
  • Lead RCCAs, process optimization projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical compliance guidance to production and support teams.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4–7+ years in a manufacturing environment focused on safety and/or quality compliance.
  • Background with OSHA, SQF, and GMPs preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Clear, confident communicator and skilled trainer.
  • Strong analytical problem‑solver with bias for action.
  • Organized multitasker who can drive process improvements.

Work Environment

Manufacturing setting with exposure to noise, heat, dust, and industrial equipment. Frequent presence on the production floor is expected.

Preferred Certification

  • OSHA 10‑Hour Certification (OSHA 10)

Compensation & Benefits

Estimated base pay for this role is $80,000–$90,000, plus bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package. The posted range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for this position across U.S. locations.
