Summary:
The Scrum Master is a key leadership role responsible for guiding Agile teams to consistently deliver high‑value outcomes while continuously improving their ways of working. This role facilitates Agile ceremonies, removes impediments, strengthens Agile behaviors across teams, and ensures alignment to enterprise Agile standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership presence, deep understanding of team domain and work, and the ability to drive focus, flow, and accountability to achieve predictable, high‑quality delivery.
Responsibilities:
Lead and facilitate all Agile ceremonies with clear purpose, structure, and outcomes.
Ensure teams maintain strong focus on sprint goals by managing scope, dependencies, and unplanned work.
Guide teams toward effective work breakdown, ensuring all user stories meet Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD).
Protect team flow and promote predictable delivery through effective backlog and work‑in‑progress practices.
Coach Agile teams, Product Owners, and Engineering partners on Agile practices, mindset, and value‑driven behaviors.
Provide real‑time, targeted coaching to strengthen Agile practices, improve team habits, and drive measurable improvements in delivery metrics.
Assess team maturity monthly and maintain coaching plans with measurable progress indicators.
Resolve team conflict within one sprint using effective facilitation and ensuring agreed‑upon working norms are upheld.
Demonstrate leadership presence by responding to feedback within 48 hours and modeling calm, fact‑based communication during escalations.
Drive continuous improvement using metrics, retrospectives, and data‑driven coaching.
Maintain expert proficiency in JIRA, creating dashboards and automations that visualize key performance trends (cycle time, throughput, WIP, rollover).
Meet monthly with Product and Engineering partners to review team maturity, metrics, delivery health, and improvement opportunities.
Identify, track, and manage cross‑team dependencies, proactively mitigating risks to prevent delays.
Surface impediments within 24 hours, maintain an impediment backlog (in JIRA), and drive timely resolution to ensure uninterrupted flow.
Validate acceptance criteria and alignment before sprint commitments to reduce scope creep and maintain predictable outcomes.
Qualifications :
Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence, collaborate, and drive alignment.
Demonstrated ability to think creatively and “outside the box” to solve problems and remove impediments.
Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies and team‑level events.
Proficiency in JIRA (including dashboards and automation features).
Background or training in education, coaching, or influencing through non‑directive methods (“manipulating through influence”). (preferred)
Agile certifications (CSM, PSM, PMI‑ACP, etc.). (preferred)
Experience working within scaled Agile environments. (preferred)
