Job Title: HR Assistant, Internships

Industry: Nonprofit / Public Policy

Assignment Type: Direct Hire

Pay: $50,000–$54,000 annually (depending on experience)

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (onsite)

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an HR Assistant to support internship programming and broader talent development initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience managing internship operations while contributing to recruiting and HR processes. Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment for internship programs, including posting roles, reviewing applications, and routing qualified candidates to hiring teams
  • Communicate with applicants regarding application status and extend internship offers to selected candidates
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to define internship needs, qualifications, and expectations
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding logistics for interns, ensuring all documentation and system processes are completed accurately
  • Serve as a point of contact for university partnerships and external internship pipelines
  • Support the planning and execution of intern programming, workshops, and engagement initiatives
  • Facilitate training sessions and provide guidance to internship supervisors as needed
  • Track and process intern-related documentation, stipends, and eligibility requirements
  • Gather feedback through surveys and contribute to continuous improvement of internship programs
  • Assist with general recruiting efforts, including job postings, interview scheduling, and candidate communication
  • Provide administrative and project support across HR functions such as events, operations, and employee programs

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 1–2 years of relevant professional experience preferred (internships may be considered)
  • Experience with program coordination, recruiting, or event planning is a plus
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems or HR software is beneficial
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
  • Self-starter who can prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Interest in human resources and working with early-career talent strongly preferred
